Who will open the Summer Olympics?
Duran Duran, Snow Patrol, Stereophonics and Paolo Nutini will share the same stage on July 27 – opening day of the XXX Summer Olympics in the capital of the United Kingdom, which is the reason for holding the event in Hyde Park, London.
The Opening Ceremony of London 2012 will be broadcasted live on giant screens during the breaks between sets of the groups, each of which will represent one part of the UK.
Originating from Birmingham Duran Duran, sold over 100 million copies of the records in the last 34 years, will represent England. 25-year-old Paolo Nutini, whose debut album These Streets (2006) spent the record 196 weeks in the British charts will represent Scotland. The leaders of the UK Top 40 with five of their seven albums Stereophonics – Wales. And Snow Patrol – Northern Ireland.
Earlier this year it was announced that a similar concert will be held on August 12 at the closing of the Olympic Games. It will be attended by Blur, New Order and The Specials.
