The thirtieth modern Olympic Games will be held in London from 27 July to 12 August – 17 days. They begin on Friday and ends at the end of the second week.

London is the first host of the Olympic Games where they will be held for the third time. The first had been organized in the early 20th century – in 1908. The second – just after the Second World War in 1948. In 2012 London will be the only city in the world with 104 years of history as an Olympic!

It is expected participation of 10,500 athletes from 205 countries in 29 sports and will be given 302 sets of Olympic medals for the disciplines. 8.8 million tickets are printed, which is less than about half of the requests received for 20 million tickets. Some of them are distributed by lottery.
