Just out from Lancaster gate tube station and inside High Park is this hidden example of eccentricity.

It is not opened to the public but you can take a peek through the railing. With over 300 little graves complete with miniature grave stones this is the final resting place for some of societies upper class dogs. Burials took place in the Victorian period and the cemetery was closed in 1915.

The space is run by performance collective Shunt. Anywhere including the theater is fair game for weird and wonderful thought provoking performance arts.

There is also a gallery space where quirky ideas are brought to life like thousands of origami birds in a white room; a stack of old TV’s in the chill out room. The outside world is placed in suspended animation. At least for a while until you come to exit from a small door which is situated inside London bridge station.

The transport Act 1985 provided arrangements for the operation of taxis and private hire vehicles which increased their role in public transport. Restrictions by local authorities on granting taxi licenses were relaxed so that a license can be refused only if a local authority is satisfied that there is no unfulfilled demand for taxis in the area. Taxi operators are able to run regular local services and can tender in competition with bus operators for services subsidized by local authorities. To do this, they may apply for a special “restricted” bus operator’s license, allowing them to run local services without having to obtain a full bus operator’s license. Taxis and licensed private hire vehicles may also offer shared rides to passengers paying separate fares.

The first “trains” it was powered by are steam locomotives. They  were replaced by electric ones after 1890.
